Spring Flowers Sorting Activity
To go along with our Spring Into the Woods theme, I created a flower-themed sorting and counting activity! It was super easy to do on my Cricut Explore. I just cut out enough circles for each child in my class to have one. These made the middle part of the flower.
Then I cut out shapes for the petals. I did rectangles, triangles, ovals, diamonds, and squares. This also gave me the chance to use up some of the patterned paper that I don’t have a lot of use for otherwise.
Next the girls sorted the shapes…I let them pick which shape they wanted to find and had them try to find as many of that shape as they could.
Some of the students worked on making groups because this is something they have really struggled with this year. I asked each student to take out five of the shapes they sorted. The trick is stopping when they get five!
I had pre-painted flower stems and leaves onto our windows using tempera paint. I’m 99% sure that it will come off of the windows at the end of the year, but the downside is that it has already started to peel off. Maybe next year I will have to invest in some window paint. The girls just used Elmer’s glue to glue the flowers onto the window. Voila!
