Spring Flowers Sorting Activity

IMG_3983
To go along with our Spring Into the Woods theme, I created a flower-themed sorting and counting activity! It was super easy to do on my Cricut Explore. I just cut out enough circles for each child in my class to have one. These made the middle part of the flower.

Then I cut out shapes for the petals. I did rectangles, triangles, ovals, diamonds, and squares. This also gave me the chance to use up some of the patterned paper that I don’t have  a lot of use for otherwise.

Some of the students worked on making groups because this is something they have really struggled with this year. I asked each student to take out five of the shapes they sorted. The trick is stopping when they get five!

I had pre-painted flower stems and leaves onto our windows using tempera paint. I’m 99% sure that it will come off of the windows at the end of the year, but the downside is that it has already started to peel off. Maybe next year I will have to invest in some window paint. The girls just used Elmer’s glue to glue the flowers onto the window. Voila!IMG_4415
